Tiger Tam is a martial artist, actor, and dancer born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. At the age of four, she began studying Kung Fu under Sifu Ben Seng Au in Honolulu, Hawaii, after seeing Ang Lee's 2000 film, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Well versed in both open hand (kata), weapons, and sparring, Tiger was inducted into the Black Belt Hall of Fame in 2012 as Female Black Belt Competitor of the Year. She is currently a second-degree black sash and instructor.
After graduating from Punahou High School in 2016, she completed her undergrad at UCLA. It was there that she auditioned for and was accepted into LCC Theatre Company, the largest student-run Asian American theater group in the country (alumni including Randall Park and Ali Wong). She finished her degree in three years, split between UCLA and Université de Bordeaux, in France, where she studied French and Film. Tiger graduated from summa cum laude in June 2019 with a B.A. in French and a minor in Film, Television and Digital Media. In the months to follow, Tiger booked a supporting role on two short films, "Dagger Before Me," and "God's Time," an LMU thesis.
Tiger has made instructional videos for Masters Magazine, teaching Choy Lee Fut and Hung Gar Shaolin Kung Fu. She is working on adding Mandarin and Cantonese language to her skills. Outside of performing, Tiger would ideally be found hiking or surfing. Her dream is to travel six months out of the year and explore more countries across the globe. She currently resides in Honolulu.
